Dear SPAGN Members and Friends,

Sarcoma Awareness Month 2026 has officially begun!

This year, our global campaign shines a light on the many challenges people affected by sarcoma face β€” while reminding everyone of one important message:

You Are Not Alone.

Throughout July, together with our member organisations around the world, we will share stories, resources, educational materials, and practical information to raise awareness of sarcoma and strengthen our global community.

All the best from the

SPAGN Board of Directors & Team
🌍 A Rare Cancer in a Common System

Sarcoma affects people of all ages, yet it remains one of the rarest groups of cancers, representing less than 1% of adult cancers and including more than 100 different subtypes.

Because healthcare systems are largely designed around more common cancers, many people affected by sarcoma experience uncertainty long before receiving the correct diagnosis. Symptoms may not immediately raise concern, making rarity itself one of the greatest challenges.

This week, we focus on raising awareness of why sarcoma is different and why specialist knowledge matters.

This week's key messages:

  • Rare does not mean simple.
  • Many sarcomas are initially mistaken for benign conditions.
  • Greater awareness helps patients reach the right care sooner.
