Dear SPAGN Members and Friends,

Now that our SPAGN Annual Conference 2026 has come to a close, we leave with mixed feelings — a little sad that these special days are over, but even more motivated, inspired, and truly grateful for such a warm and collaborative community.

Over three inspiring days, the meeting once again demonstrated the strength, warmth, and determination of the global sarcoma community, reminding us that no one facing sarcoma stands alone.

All the best from the

SPAGN Board of Directors & Team
A Global Community United by Hope and Collaboration

This year’s conference brought together approx. 120 participants. A mix of patient advocates, healthcare professionals, researchers, and industry partners from across the world, creating a truly global space for exchange and collaboration.

Across the programme, we explored the full sarcoma journey — from cutting-edge research and emerging technologies such as whole genome sequencing (WGS) and next-generation sequencing (NGS), to discussions on adolescent and young adult (AYA) care, quality of life, and the increasing role of the patient voice through data sharing and biospecimens in advancing research.

One clear message resonated throughout: progress is only possible when patients, clinicians, researchers, and industry work together as equal partners.

🤝 Strong Exchange and Engagement

The conference was marked by highly interactive sessions and meaningful discussions, with strong engagement from all participants. The exchange of lived experience, scientific knowledge, and clinical expertise created a dynamic environment focused on learning from one another and building shared understanding.

These moments of dialogue once again highlighted the importance of coming together as a community — not only to share knowledge, but to strengthen connection and purpose.

🗳️ SPAGN Board Elections

We also held the General Assembly Meeting (AGM), where SPAGN members confirmed and elected new Board representatives and voted on important

We warmly congratulate all newly elected and re-elected board members.

🏆 Advocacy in Action & Paola Gonzato Memory Award 2026

We were proud to celebrate outstanding advocacy initiatives through the Advocacy in Action Awards and the Paola Gonzato Memory Award.

These awards highlighted the creativity, commitment, and impact of patient advocacy across the globe — from national awareness campaigns to systemic change initiatives and international research collaboration.

🌟 SPAGN Lifetime Achievement Awards

This year we also gave few Lifetime Achievement Awards honouring individuals whose long-term dedication has profoundly shaped the sarcoma field.

Their work has strengthened patient communities, advanced research, and brought lasting impact to sarcoma care worldwide.

🌍 Looking Ahead Together

As the conference concluded, participants left with renewed energy, stronger connections, and a shared sense of purpose.

Across all sessions and conversations, one message stood out: the importance of connection — not only in advancing science and care, but in ensuring that no one facing sarcoma ever feels alone.

The SPAGN Annual Conference 2026 once again reflected the strength of our global community, where collaboration, trust, and shared purpose continue to drive meaningful progress.
