In this article, Cédric shares the story of his son Shane, who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in 2024. Despite his courage and the best possible care, Shane passed away later that year. Out of this profound loss, the Shane Osteosarcoma Association was founded in May 2025 to raise awareness, support families, and fund research.
The association is built on three pillars:
-
Awareness – improving recognition and earlier diagnosis of osteosarcoma.
-
Research Funding – supporting innovative projects and new therapies.
-
Family Support – offering emotional and practical help for those navigating childhood cancer.
By joining SPAGN, the association connects its mission to the wider global network, ensuring Shane’s legacy contributes to international advocacy and collaboration.
